The HI-TRAC 100+ high-speed weigh-in-motion and traffic data collection system provides a low cost means of recording vehicle classification and axle load data without interruption to traffic flows. In the standard configuration, two piezo electric sensors and one induction loop are installed in the highway per lane of detection. The piezo electric sensors measure axle speeds and inter-axle spacing. The induction loop detects vehicle presence and measures the vehicle length. If Class 1 piezo electric sensors are employed, axle weight data can also be attained.
Incident detection and event monitoring functions can be incorporated along with message sign activation and CCTV interface for text insertion and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR).
The system can be used as a statistical data gathering device to record the pattern of highway traffic loading. Other applications include i) pre-selection or screening weighbridge to identify overloaded vehicles in the traffic stream; and ii) bridge load monitoring system.
i) Pre-Selection System: In this application the HI-TRAC 100+ controls traffic signals or diversion signs to intercept overloaded vehicles and direct them off the highway and to a vehicle weight enforcement station. See: LO-TRAC/HI-TRAC Enforcement & Pre-Selection System Brochure PDF (1.2MB)
ii) Bridge Load Monitoring System: In this application the HI-TRAC 100+ either collects statistical data to monitor bridge loading or in a more interactive manner controls traffic signals or diversion signs to intercept overloaded vehicles and direct them off the bridge or to a holding area. See: Bridge Load Monitoring System Brochure PDF (1.1MB)
The HI-TRAC 100+ is complimented by the HI-COMM 100 software package. HI-COMM 100 provides data retrieval via modem and laptop as well as data analysis facilities and system diagnostic functions.
