SYSTEM DESCRIPTIONThe HI-TRAC EMU is a low power traffic data collection system incorporating a modular design that can be configured for loop counting; loop classifying or weigh-in-motion. The unit incorporates interfaces to both piezo electric sensors, inductive loop sensors and a road installed temperature probe.

The supply voltage for the HI-TRAC EMU is 6V which can be from a suitable cabinet installed sealed lead acid battery; an AC/DC power supply or solar panel and associated battery & charge regulator. The unit is low powered ensuring long battery life even if solar panel rechargeable options are not available.

The HI-TRAC EMU provides sensor interfaces for up to 8 induction loop sensors and 4 piezo electric sensors and incorporates modem (landline or GSM) communication options. A small; vandal proof, GSM antenna is available for installation on the top of the roadside cabinet. GPRS options are also available.

Traffic alerting; incident detection and event monitoring are one og the main applications of the HI-TRAC EMU. An example of this is the Motorcycle Safety system: Motorcycle Safety System Data Sheet PDF (1.32MB).

The HI-TRAC EMU is accompanied by the HI-COMM 100 software package. HI-COMM 100 provides data retrieval via modem or laptop as well as data analysis and report generation facilities as well as system diagnostic functions.
