HI-TRAC BLUE V2 - THE NEXT GENERATION
January 19, 2012
TDC Systems are proud to announce the release of HI-TRAC BLUE v2, Bluetooth® MAC Address Reader.
Following on from success of being the first to market a complete traffic specific Bluetooth Journey Time device in the UK, and being the only exhibitor of this technology at Traffex in March 2011 with the original HI-TRAC BLUE; TDC Systems have continued to develop on their cutting edge technology.
From customer feedback it became clear that customers were interested in deploying the same system in both permanent and temporary installations. Although the system was more than acceptable it became apparent that our customers could benefit from a single battery charge life of greater than the 14 days already provided. With the main processor in the unit already drawing an extremely low 4mA, and the overall unit drawing 61mA, the Research and Development team pushed the envelope to come up with a solution that is capable of getting the total current consumption of the unit down to only 43mA, with the majority of this being consumed by the physical transmission of radio signals.
This is a significant reduction in the power requirements of the unit of 29.5%.
With advancements in battery management algorithms for the HI-TRAC BLUE, long term testing of the new units were conducted and proved that in real world applications the units are capable of up to 24 days continuous operation, with MAC address detection occurring 24 hours a day, and data being uploaded to a central database daily. All of this has been possible while still maintaining the total installed unit weight of 7kgs.
TDC believe that these advancements will only benefit the traffic industry by continuing to push the options for longer surveys with less infrastructure and human interaction.
The TDC design team are not sitting round, stayed tuned as there are many more exciting developments underway for the HI-TRAC BLUE, details to be released soon.
