TDC SYSTEMS LAUNCH NEW HI-TRAC® ANPR SOLUTION

January 19, 2012

TDC Systems HI-TRAC® ANPR solution is the latest innovation to combine Weigh In Motion (WIM) data with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) in one easy to use application with the end user in mind.

Using a TCP/IP network of ANPR cameras and HI-TRAC® 100+ WIM system with Contextual overview camera the HI-TRAC® ANPR software can simultaneously pair the WIM vehicle records with the ANPR information and overview image and display this information intuitively to the end user.

Having this information stored in a SQL database for easy interrogation also enables target enforcement to be carried out based on the overload statistics.

Overloaded vehicles when detected by HI-TRAC® ANPR will be colour coded on the display and an audible alarm is sounded from the PC to alert the user of the offence detected, this can be a gross weight, single axle or group overload.  With this information to hand the user can then target that vehicle only, enabling the majority of vehicles to carry on driving without interruption.

HI-TRAC® ANPR runs as a server which can be roadside stand alone or as part of a much wider network of cameras and equipment.  With this flexible approach HI-TRAC® ANPR can be a solution that fits all potential operational needs.  When used correctly it can increase the detection of illegal vehicles dramatically from the more traditional human approach.
An overloaded vehicle will not only cause damage to roads but puts the HGV drivers and other road users at risk.

Overloading a vehicle:
• Makes the vehicle less stable, difficult to steer and takes longer to stop. Vehicles react differently when the maximum weights which they are designed to carry are exceeded. The consequences can be fatal.
• Causes excessive wear and damage to roads, bridges, and pavements at the expense of the tax payer.
• Is unfair on other operators. Exceeding weight limits is unfair competition.
