TDC SYSTEMS WINS £1.8M CONTRACT FOR HIGH SPEED WEIGH-IN-MOTION IN KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA
January 19, 2012
TDC Systems has won a major contract for the supply of 20 high speed Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) systems for overweight pre-selection and enforcement.
The Ministry of Transport for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is committed to improving road safety and for protecting Bridges and the Highways from the damage caused by overweight vehicles.
In support of these objectives, the TDC Systems weigh-in-motion system, which comprises the industry standard HI-TRAC® 100+, the HI-TRAC® Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera and the Kistler Lineas® quartz crystal WIM sensor, will be deployed to provide a comprehensive tool for overweight targeting and enforcement.
The WIM sensors are installed in the road at strategic sites, and each time an overloaded vehicle is detected, the information collected is used to divert the vehicle into the weighing station for inspection and enforcement.
The overall project will be installed in three phases and the first phase is planned to start in February this year.
This prestigious contract is added to a growing list of clients and further reinforces TDC’s position as one of the worlds leading suppliers of weigh-in-motion systems.
TDC Systems will deliver and manage this project in partnership with the reputable Shibh Al Jazirah Contracting Company whose head office is located in Riyadh.
