AXLE CLASSIFIERS

Axle Classifiers utilise a combination of piezo electric sensors and inductive loops per traffic lane to provide a low cost means of recording traffic classification data without interruption to traffic flow. The TDC range of axle classifiers provided vehicle counting and classification to UK DfT 20 Class Scheme, FHWA 13 Category Scheme, Austroads or similar vehicle classification specifications. A road installed Inductive loop is optional and can provide enhanced classification with loop profiling chassis signature analysis.

TDC offer a number of axle counter classifier solutions; the HI-TRAC 100+ (AVC), HI-TRAC 110, the HI-TRAC TMU2, the HI-TRAC TMU4, the HI-TRAC EMU and the HI-TRAC UTC-P. Communication options include GPRS, GSM, USB, Bluetooth, RS232 and Ethernet TCP/IP.

The HI-TRAC® range of Axle Classifiers use established piezo electric sensor technology with TDC’s Advanced Loop Profiling function to detect mixed traffic recording vehicle speed, length, classification, axle configuration, wheelbase, gap and headway. The systems can be used as a statistical data gathering device to record the pattern of highway traffic as well as a means of event monitoring and incident detection.

TDC Systems advanced vehicle straddling algorithms mean volumetric detection rates in excess of 99.5% are achievable.

The HI-TRAC® TMU4 offers connectivity up to 16 lanes of PIEZO-LOOP-PIEZO sensor configuration and incorporates embedded Ethernet with TCP/IP stack, VPN and FTP as well as extensive 4Gbytes data storage and thus provides high-end functionality at a reasonable cost. The system is 19 inch rack design and may be powered from either mains supply or solar panel and associated battery & charge regulator.

The HI-TRAC® 100 offers connectivity up to 8 lanes of PIEZO-LOOP-PIEZO sensor configuration and is used extensively in shadow tolling applications. The system is 19 inch rack design and may be powered from either mains supply or solar panel and associated battery & charge regulator.

The HI-TRAC® TMU2 offers connectivity up to 16 lanes of LOOP-PIEZO-LOOP sensor configuration and incorporates embedded Ethernet with TCP/IP stack, VPN and FTP as well as extensive 4Gbytes data storage and thus provides high-end functionality at a reasonable cost. The system is 19 inch rack design and may be powered from either mains supply or solar panel and associated battery & charge regulator.

The HI-TRAC® 110 offers connectivity up to 8 lanes of LOOP-PIEZO-PIEZO sensor configuration and is used extensively in shadow tolling applications. The system is 19 inch rack design and may be powered from either mains supply or solar panel and associated battery & charge regulator.

The HI-TRAC® EMU is a low power traffic data collection system with upgradeable options configurable to:

The HI-TRAC® EMU can be powered from either mains supply or solar panel and associated battery & charge regulator.

The UTC-P can interface to 4 piezo electric sensors for measuring up to 2 lanes of PIEZO-PIEZO sensor configuration. The UTC-P is powered by a small, sealed lithium battery mounted externally to the unit. The UTC-P battery life for standard operation is 2 years. The UTC unit is sealed to IP68 and can be installed into either a small roadside pillar or post or into a small subsurface chamber.
